Start Point Finder does not collect, store or sell any personal data on our own servers. Your location stays on your device except where noted below.
1. Who We Are
This privacy policy applies to the Start Point Finder mobile application for Android (the "App"). If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at the email address listed at the bottom of this page.
2. What Data the App Uses
Location (Precise)
The App requests access to your device's precise GPS location. This is used solely to:
- Place your start point pin at your current position
- Show your real-time position on the map
- Calculate walking or driving directions back to your start point
Your location is processed on-device. The only time your coordinates leave your device is when a route is requested — at that point your current location and start point coordinates are sent to the routing server (see Section 3) to calculate directions. This transmission is anonymous, contains no personal identifiers, and is not stored.
Start Point (Cached Locally)
When you set a start point, the coordinates are saved in your device's local storage for up to 24 hours so the app can restore it if closed accidentally. This data never leaves your device and is automatically deleted after 24 hours, or immediately when you tap Reset.
3. Third-Party Services
OpenStreetMap Routing (OSRM)
When you request directions, your current location and start point coordinates are sent to routing.openstreetmap.de to calculate a route. This request is made over HTTPS, is anonymous, and no personal data or history is stored by this service. Please refer to the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy for more information.
Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads. This data is collected and shared with Google and its advertising partners.

- Shared with: Google LLC and its advertising network
You can opt out of personalised ads at any time via your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.

4. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store or process any of the following:
- Names, email addresses or any personal identifiers
- Account information (the App has no accounts)
- Location history or movement patterns on our servers
- Photos, contacts, messages or any other device content
- Analytics or crash data on our own servers
5. Data Retention
The start point you save is stored locally on your device for a maximum of 24 hours. It is deleted immediately if you tap the Reset button. No data is retained on any server operated by us.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has used the App and you have concerns, please contact us.
7. Your Rights
Since we do not collect or store personal data on our own servers, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct or delete on request. For data collected by Google AdMob, please refer to Google's privacy controls at myaccount.google.com.
8. Security
All data transmitted from the App (routing requests and AdMob requests) is sent over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). Your start point is stored only in your device's private local storage, inaccessible to other apps.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
