Privacy Policy — Super Simple Mind Maps
Last updated: 4 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Super Simple Mind Maps Android app (“the app”, “we”) handles your information. Please read it alongside the Google Play Data safety section for this app.
In short
- Your mind maps are stored on your device. We operate no server and cannot see them.
- The app shows ads (Google AdMob), which collect some device data as described below.
- The optional “Generate with AI” feature sends the text you type to OpenAI using an API key you provide. If you never use it, no text leaves your device for AI.
- You can back up and restore your maps to a file location you choose (for example, your own cloud storage) — this transfer is initiated and controlled entirely by you.
Information the app stores on your device
- Mind map content you create (titles, node text, colours, and any images you attach).
- App settings, including your OpenAI API key if you choose to enter one. The API key is stored encrypted on the device and is excluded from cloud backups.
We do not transmit this content to us — we operate no servers.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The app displays banner ads served by Google AdMob. To provide and measure ads, Google may collect and process data such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, and general usage/diagnostic information. For users in the EEA/UK, the app presents a consent request (Google’s User Messaging Platform) before serving personalized ads.
See Google’s policies for details:
AI generation (OpenAI) — optional, off by default
If you enter an OpenAI API key and use “Generate with AI”, the topic/prompt text you provide is sent directly from your device to OpenAI’s API to generate a map. This request is authenticated with your own OpenAI key and is subject to OpenAI’s privacy policy and terms: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
We do not receive, store, or process this text ourselves. If you do not use this feature, no data is sent to OpenAI.
Backup & restore
The backup feature writes your maps to a JSON file at a location you select through the Android file picker (for example, a folder on your device or your own cloud storage). Restoring reads a file you select. We are not involved in and cannot access these transfers.
Permissions
- Internet / network state — required to load ads and, only when you use it, to contact OpenAI.
- Images are accessed only when you pick one, via the Android Storage Access Framework. The app does not request broad storage permissions.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data, including your maps and stored API key. To remove data you sent to OpenAI, use OpenAI’s own account controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
