Overview
DictYourWork is a voice-to-text note-taking app that allows you to dictate notes using your device's microphone. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
Data We Collect
1. Microphone / Audio Data
DictYourWork requires access to your device's microphone to convert your speech into text. This data is:
- Processed entirely on your device using Android's built-in speech recognition service
- Never recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers
- Never used for advertising or any purpose other than converting your speech to text
Audio data is processed in real time and is not retained after the speech-to-text conversion is complete.
2. Notes
Any notes you create are stored locally on your device only using the app's local storage. We do not have access to your notes and they are never uploaded to any server. If you choose to send a note via email, it is sent using your device's default email app (e.g. Gmail) — DictYourWork does not process or store this email data.
3. Email Address
If you enter an email address in Settings (for the "Send" feature), it is stored locally on your device only. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to this information.
4. Advertising Data (Google AdMob)
DictYourWork displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect certain data automatically, including:
- Device identifiers (e.g. Android Advertising ID)
- IP address
- App interaction data (e.g. ad views and clicks)
- Diagnostic and crash data
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We request non-personalised ads by default. You can control ad personalisation through your device's Google settings under Settings > Google > Ads.
How We Use Your Data
- Microphone data: Used solely for on-device speech-to-text conversion. Never used for advertising.
- Notes and email address: Stored locally on your device for app functionality only.
- Advertising data: Collected by Google AdMob to serve ads and for analytics/fraud prevention.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer any of your personal data to third parties. The only third-party service integrated into the app is Google AdMob, which collects data as described above under Google's own privacy policy.
Data Storage and Security
- All user data (notes, email address) is stored locally on your device
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- All communication between the app and Google AdMob is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time:
- Notes: Delete individual notes within the app, or delete all app data via Android Settings > Apps > DictYourWork > Storage > Clear Data
- Email address: Clear it in the app's Settings screen, or clear all app data as above
- Advertising data: Reset your advertising ID via Android Settings > Google > Ads > Reset Advertising ID
- Complete removal: Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
Children's Privacy
DictYourWork is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
