This Privacy Policy explains how Small Text Reader ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
The App is designed to minimise data collection. Here is what the App accesses and why:
- Camera: Used solely to capture images for text recognition (OCR). Images are processed on-device by Google ML Kit and are never uploaded to our servers.
- Text recognised from images: Stays on your device. It is stored locally in the app's private history database only if you explicitly choose to save it.
- Translation requests: When you press the Translate button, the recognised text is sent to Google's translation service over HTTPS in order to perform the translation. This data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- App settings: Your preferences (voice, speed, language, display) are saved locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences and are never transmitted externally.
2. Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised ads, including device identifiers and usage data. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising through your device's ad settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
3. Data Storage
- All data created by the App (scanned text history, settings) is stored locally on your device only.
- We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
- Deleting the App removes all locally stored data.
